YES!!!! I love this sweater, so much to where I've started "The Manly Sweater" from S n B, so I can have another. I don't think I'll be carrying on with my acryllic hoodie, though. The not-blockability of the acrylic is too scary to think about. (lets just say I hated tubey before it met some sopy water and some towells to sleep on)

I'm just doing one of those official "Ill do or knit whatever the hell I want" post. I'm a teenager, I have no money, and I knit. Big deal that I use that big bad monster acrylic to make things.

So to the thirtyish year old woman (slowling hacking away at a crap $200 garter stitch novelty scarf) who turned her nose up at me for knitting away at my hoodie in Carons simply soft. Who scoffed at me as if I, even after three years of knitting, knew NOTHING. I can do cables, I can do lace, I can do frickin insaria and even steeking. you...can do a novelty scarf. Congrats to you, now go die.

Ok, so wednesday after dinner I get bored. Knowing that I'd never get to place the cotton fleece order before december, and that I had enough leftover yarn to make a few stripes with, I venture out and buy four skiens of Paton's classic merino (brown) to make a nice tubey. I've finished the shrug/sleevey part and just need to make the body. Sadly my camera's broke so I have no pictures

Ok, I've calmed down now...And i've also remembered something.
that wal-mart sweater was awsome to me, but didn't really keep me warm at ALL in the winter days. I remembered also that I have a wool coat I wear quite often in winter, and a sweater to wear instead of it would be quite nice...

ugh, i cant think of words for how much my head is buzzing. I've been looking all day for a basic hoodie pattern, done in a cotton/wool blend that could replace my BELOVED hoodie, which due to holes, is retired. I went everywhere with it.
I went to school with it
slept in it
went to monster truck shows in it

it was the greatest life a wall-mart hooded sport zippered sweater in brown and purple could ask for.

Good grief, allergies have gotten a hold of me. Although it doesn't help that I went to pollen-world (aka. Cypress Gardens) yesterday, for now, I"m blaming it on the cat:

but on to things that make me happy:

I'm going to purchase a CARPLOAD of cotton fleece off of ebay to make me a sweater.
Over this time I haven't been blogging, I'm been stash clearing. I have absolutely NO yarn left in my stash (well, until the above happens)
I figured out how to do bullets.

i just got back from the chiropractor. daaaammmm, getting your back adjusted feels so good. well, apparently what's been goin' on is that my left leg is shorter than the right (hereditary from my daddy) and due to all the time spent on my feet from marching, it's been pushing my back out of alignment.

wow, i just now noticed that, sad considering i'm the only student in her class with any sign of a future. :)
well, it's monday. wondering why i'm not at school?

A: i'm finally getting my back checked (i'll post the story later)
B: i messed up my arm at Tarpon Springs (see below), getting it checked along with my back.
C: Tarpon Springs (a marching band competition) saturday took it all out of me. it was 15+ hours (getting back at 3am) of hard work.

Anyways, good news! More yarn and a pullip, i mean, namu on my way!!! yes peoples, i got wolf!!!!
I also got enough cascade 220 to make a ravenclaw PoA scarf and a(n 18" sz 7) circ for the project. cant wait :)

my shoes, yes, my shoes (not on my feet at the time of the pic). As you can tell, they're old school Converse. They're tan/burgundy/black plaid. And the most distinct part about them: the laces. Yes, those red spots on the blue ones are ladybugs, and yes, the white things on the black ones are these menacing cat eyes. I love these shoes.

Yea. The fancy-pants concert was Thursday. I did a pimpin' job if I do say so myself. I rocked the bass in Jazz band. I've been getting tons of accolade for it. That was the first time dad heard me play the songs. He said I did great.

Sami's B-day is Sunday. I haven't gotten him anything yet. I'll probably go shopping in a little while

Brass vs. woodwind (you know who wins)

I'm probably about to make a lot of woodwinds very unhappy. Most of the ones I've met are snobs. For some reason, and sami agrees with this, brass and woodwind don't usually get along too incredibly well. Is there some kind of natural thing that turns these fellow musicains against each other? Here's my theory.

Woodwinds think they're better because: Ihey have to do tons of difficult finger placements while keeping steady air

Brass think they're better because: Our lips controll the notes. It takes just the right tightness to get it right. It also takes lots of hard work to be able to get the notes perfect. buttons aren't everything. we can play a whole song with only one fingering can woodwinds play Tapps? I think not.
I understand that I'm completely bias about this. I don't care.

I figured out how to make a photo profile! I dig the pic. Technically, I'm not "full-blood bass clef" (as I put it) yet, but I'm only 10 days away! Anyway, our winter concert's this thursday. I can't frickin' wait. For the first time, the band gets to go first. I hate the chourus soooooo much! They act better than us because, and I quote, "In the chourus you have to use natural talent, so you have to work harder. It's not just blowing through a tube." Fuck that. If they had the slightest fucking clue about what it takes to play a band instument, they would shut the fuck up. I'm not being bais, either I've been in chourus. It sucked out loud. It was really really boring.

Okay, I had clear intentions of buying a nice $47, size 24AW mouthpiece which I knew was at a music store close to my house. Sami was going to meet me there. It closes at 6:00 and it was 5:20. Which is'nt bad. I'm sure that even if I got there at 5:50 they would let me stay (If I made my $47 intentions obvious) It was around 5:25 when I was almost at the parking lot. Next thing I know, Sami calls me on the cell "Dude, they closed" I heard. He was'nt joking. They closed an entire 35 minutes early and missed out on a big purchase. I say screw them. I'll take my money to the big chain music megastore.(I'm still really fustrated that I still am mouthpieceless)

I'm in my school's Jazz Band I haven't mentioned that before. I play bass. I'm quite good and I want to be in the high school's Jazz Band next year. I think that's why I've grown attached to the tuba. I really like the role I play in Jazz. I'm not flashy like the saxophone, but damm, that saxaphonist wouldn't even have a chance without me. That't the same way tuba is. Aha! Massive mental breakthrough! I'm doing my ingenius thought dance! (not really.....okay, mabye just a little bit)

yes Yes YES! Finally my secret wish has come true! I'm gonna be a tuba player! Ever since the very begining of this school year I wished to be one of the "sexy dictators" (my nickname for the beret-clad tuba players) I originally thought that I could never change because I thought Mr. Leighton (high school band director) wouldn't want a tuba player with anything less than 3 years experience. On the contrary, he said he would accept newbies to an instrument. I just have to practice and ajust to the tuba. My friend Sami (he's helped a lot through this whole thing) said that I would be an awsome tuba player. If your out there Sami, thanks, for everything. : >)

I exaggerated. I figured that I would get stuck in weeks of extra school days because of the hurricanes. Two days. Not weeks, days. But I have some new school topics. 1) No band teacher + strict substitute + lame video= bands real downside 2) Those Anne Frank movies really get to me (sniffle). and 3) 6:30! The bus picks you up at 6:30! In english we watched more of the Anne Frank movie. I almost cried. I probably would have had it not been for stupid T.J annoying me the whole time. Anyway, I looked at the bus stop listings for my future high school and found out this lovely little fact. THE FRICKIN' BUS LEAVES AT 6:30! That's early, that's damm early in my book.

A note about my thing for tubas

I play trumpet in band. Now, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the trumpet and I always will, but I secretly want to play tuba. Ever since I saw the sheen of the silver contras out there on the big green field, that is what I wanted. The high-pitched, blasting trumpet no longer was intresting, It was the low, calm notes flowing from the massive bells that attracted me. The intrest faded when I relized how hard it would be to switch at this point. One day I will be great at both instruments, if a human embouchure can even do that. ;->

I looked back at my most recent posts and relized that I was a jackass. There I was talking about their lame costumes not telling you about mine. I did have a good plan. I was going to be the ghost of a office worker. It blew up in my face. I thought that using silver makeup insted of fake blood would make it seem more ghost like. People didn't get it.
